Personal Property Tax Analyst

  

Reports to:  Tax Manager        Status:  Exempt                        Location:  Home Office

  

Position Summary:  YES! Communities, an industry leader and national operator of multifamily residential properties located in seventeen states and headquartered in Denver, is seeking a Personal Property Tax Analyst to become part of the team.  This team member will serve as the primary owner of all personal property tax related filings and accounting for YES! Communities, including managing the relationship with our third- party personal property tax vendor.

  

Essential Functions:

  
  • Maintain personal property tax database accurately and timely 
  • Reconcile and resolve discrepancies between our database and third-party vendor database
  • Work with third-party vendor regarding payments, inquiries and delinquencies
  • Review, approve and initiate all personal property tax payments
  • Interact with municipalities on various tax issues as well as maintain tax tables
  • Provide accurate data to loan servicers for escrow purposes
  • Research, follow-up and resolve any tax related inquiries or issues 
  • Process refund requests
  • Prepare journal entries for tax accruals
  • Reconcile tax related general ledger accounts
  • Document processes and evaluate areas for process improvements

  • Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of Excel and Access
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to research personal property tax laws
  • Knowledge of titling/title transfers helpful
              

Education and Experience:

  
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/education
  • 3 years of experience in handling property tax matters
  • Experience working with municipalities and government agencies on tax issues strongly desired
